A Tribute to Snowy

A very sad day today. Our 9 year old bunny Snowy died. We think it was a stroke. I know she was only a bunny but I miss her terribly.

Paper Flowers

I simply love all these paper flowers everyone is making. I followed the directions from Monica Gale's video here.
Basically you punch 6-8 scallop circles using the Scallop Circle punch, cut between the scallops to make petals, wet them & scrunch them, put a brad in the center of the stack and adjust the layers until it looks like a flower.
On this card I used Basic Gray and Pretty in Pink card stock and DSP from an old hostess paper pack. The only stamping is the sentiment which is from the Well Scripted stamp set. When the card was finished I saturated it with some Shimmer Spray (made with rubbing alcohol and Shimmer paint). Even the ribbon is shimmery! Why doesn't glitter or shimmery stuff photograph well? You will just have to take my word for it IRL the card is verrry shimmery!

P.S. I have a new coffee pot and all the snow is melted!!!!!!! Life is good!

Isn't there a country song that says "The secret to life is a good pot of coffee"? Well it isn't the secret to life but my needs are simple and a good pot of coffee is one of them.

Sigh. . . . . . .and to top it off my coffee maker is broken and I am drinking instant. . .

Quick Birthday Card

I made this little birthday card using the SU set called Beary Best Friends.

I colored him using blender pens and markers because I wanted a light touch of color especially with the balloons. I had to make this card in an hour (for me not a lot of time from start to finish!) for a challenge on Stampin' Addicts. The challenge was to make a birthday card with balloons. The card base is Ballet Blue with a layer of Green Galore and the image is stamped on Naturals White (love this paper for watercoloring!) with Stazon Black Ink.

New Blog Header made with My Digital Studio

See my new blog header? I made it myself using Stampin' Up! My Digital Studio. I really haven't played with it much because I am a hands on crafter. I like the process of creating something more than the finished product. However, it is kinda fun to play around with the MDS (My Digital Studio) program. Remember how much fun it was to play with Kids Pix Studio on the computer??? Come on you know you played with it even though you bought it for the kiddos! You can put together ideas or layouts and not waste any paper! Or just click on stuff for the fun of it. Anyway, after I watch some of the SU tutorials perhaps I will actually know what I am doing-until then I do know how to make a blog header!

Distressed Charming card CASE

I saw this beautiful card on Sandi MacIver's blog and copied it. Isn't it lovely? I love the vintage, distressed look but it doesn't come naturally to me. However, I copy rather well. I used the SU stamp set called Charming.
To make the create embellishment I stamped the frame image and create image on a piece of paper, attached it to a metal label from the Vanilla Hodgepodge Hardware and filled it in with Crystal Effects. I added a little glitter to the CE. Actually I added a little too much glitter at first but was able to gently remove some with a scrap of paper. (After a few moments of panic as the glitter slowly covered the entire stamped image!)
It is hard to see in the photo but the brad in the corner of the tag is a Build-A-Brad with the butterfly image from the Charming set.
