Pulled out my pastels for this card! I forget how much I like using these! The background was made by stamping with bleach. The main image was colored with pastels and a blender pen. I also used pastels and and a cotton ball around the edge of the bottom layer. The stamp set is Embrace Life.
My SU pastels were one of my first stamping purchases and I still have them. The case is broken (held together with a rubber band) because "gasp" I dropped them once. A couple of cakes broke but like a Timex "took a lickin' and keeps on tickin'".
When I started making cards I had absolutely NOTHING! I used some markers that belonged to my kids to ink my first stamp set! I colored with crayola colored pencils and bought some white Georgia Pacific paper from Wal-Mart. My first few cards were made with (hold your breath) construction paper. I thought I was really something with my blender pens and pastels! I mean I could almost make something pretty. Luckily I don't have the first few cards I made! They were pretty sad little things.

LOL! I can relate although I've never used construction paper!! The first cards I made were just UGLY!!!!!
This card came out really cute & reminds me that I need to pull out my pastels and start using them....tfs!!!
Such a pretty card! I like the bleach technique. Very soft!
Rose
Very pretty...love the pink flower!
This is so pretty. I love the pastels. This is frame worthy.
This is a great card. I am in the same boat as you with limited supplies. I have only the few ink pads, pastels, and blender pens that came with my starter kit.
I did take the plunge and bought a Big Shot and to bump up my sale, I added in a case of the markers. I figured I would eventually get them so why not now right? One down, three more to go.
Isn't it funny looking back at our first cardmaking and scrapbooking efforts! You have obviously come a long long way - such a beautiful card.
I just signed up as a demo in the UK, and the pastels and blender pens are all new to me, so your card is an inspiration.
Very pretty, reminds me to use those old pastels. They are one of the best things to get when first starting out!
Ha! When I first started I ONLY used paper. I used strips of paper instead of ribbon, and die cuts from my old red Sizzix. I thought stamps were only to put a sentiment inside the card, because who the heck wanted to color something in? I avoided the stamp aisle of my local craft stores - they looked like Trouble. Guess I was right - but it's the fun kind of trouble. Thanks for sharing your beginner memories!
