Something to Brighten Your Day!

Love that new Square Lattice Impressions folder! It looks like fabric! I pulled out one of my favorite flower sets Petal Pizazz. I love the bold solid images in this set. I will miss Bermuda Bay when it retires. However, I did purchase a couple of packs of paper and a reinker so I should be good for awhile!

Red, White & Blue Graduation Card

Making masculine cards is a stretch for me. My style is cute or glittery or maybe a little vintage if I get inspired and CASE something. However, guys don't really like glitter. Now why is that? I mean how did glitter become feminine or why is pink for girls???? Boys like glitter when they are young. Preschoolers put lots and lots of glitter on their projects.

Conversation I had with a 3 year old boy-
Me: "What's your favorite color?"
3 year old: "I love all the colors of the world . . . . . . .except pink."
Me: "Why don't you like pink?"
3 year old: "Because pink is for girls!!"

More Ice Cream!

What a yummy set! It just screams "cute!". I scream you scream we all scream for ice cream!! I was inspired by this card by Jan Tink. Isn't it funny how you think you are copying a card exactly and by the time you are done tweaking it (no Wild Wasabi cardstock or ribbon) it looks quite different.
I used a texture plate for the Pretty in Pink layer. I just had to add a little Dazzling Diamonds glitter on the ice cream. And yes the scoops are supposed to be crooked-it is much easier that way! Now I have to go get some ice cream-what flavor??? My favorite is vanilla-my DD says that is borrrrrrring! Don't care!

Ice Cream!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, this new set in the Summer Mini Catalog called Sweet Scoops. To give the ice cream a little texture you ink up the solid stamp and then stamp it on a little square textured stamp. This technique is called "kissing" and you can use any solid stamp with any "textured" or background stamp. We made this card at Stamp Club Friday night and most of the ladies added an extra scoop of chocolate to their card. The cone is stamped in Soft Suede stamped off (stamp on a scrap sheet of paper first to lighten the shade).

The card base is Whisper White with a layer of textured Chocolate Chip. The button is a clear Bitty Button (Summer Mini) with a punched piece (Punch Pack from the Summer MIni) of Pumpkin Pie adhered to the back with Crystal Effects™. The entire card was "smooched" with some Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz ™. Bet you can't say that five times fast with a mouth full of peanut butter!

Emerging Color

I believe this technique is called emerging color. It is very easy to do. Simply stamp any design (I used the Medallion stamp) with Versamark™ on a piece of DSP and emboss with clear embossing powder. Then brayer a dark color of ink (I used Elegant Eggplant) over the entire paper. Wipe off the excess ink on the embossed image and TaDa! Instead of using DSP you could stamp, sponge, swipe ink on a piece of paper to make a background piece and emboss an image over that. Just make sure your background piece is completely dry before you emboss or embossing powder will stick everywhere (yes I know this from experience!).

Another CASE!

I saw this lovely card here by Vicki and decided to (copy) CASE it. I do not have as many layers as Vicki but I used the same stamp set, Baroque Motifs and colors, Basic Gray and Crushed Curry. I love yellow and this is such a great shade-not too bright like the in-your-face YoYo Yellow. Crushed Curry is a soon to be retiring In-Color but the new Daffodil Delight (available in the new July catalog) is a lovely shade also.
Well my baby graduates tomorrow, I have to go and decorate the church gym where we are having a reception for her. I made her a cute banner with the Big Shot Pennant Die. I will try to take a photo and post it. She didn't want her name on it so it just says, "Class of 2010".

A Shelli Gardner CASE

I CASED (Create And Share Everything) this from Shelli's (co-founder & CEO of Stampin' Up!) blog. SU had a contest for SU demonstrators; the winners won a Workshop of a Lifetime where Shelli came to their town and held a workshop. This is one of the make & takes at the workshop. This is a very easy card to make. The ink colors are Bermuda Bay (retiring in July *sob*), Melon Mambo, and Pink Pirouette. I liked the little detail with the ribbon being folded back.
