Flower Pot Card
I decided to make one of these "flower pot" cards after seeing so many beautiful ones posted. I had a hard time making the slant of the pot. I had great directions from Stephanie to follow but I kept doing something wrong. I kept making the bottom of the pot too small. Finally I went back to the "old fashioned" way of making something fit and made a couple of pencil marks and just cut. Sometimes the "old" ways work best. I am still loving this Parisian Breeze paper. The colors in this paper are so soft and easy to work with. Baja Breeze is one of those colors that must be paired with something else to be appreciated. I used my Big Shot to cut out the flowers. The ribbon is the lovely White Organza that I hope comes in many different colors in the next catalog! I am not sure I really like the brown flower, which is why I put it in the back. I am getting some of my challenges done-but I am still behind-oh well! I just need to take photos and post.

SCS Sisters Card Duo Challenge
As usual I am a week behind!!!!! This is a challenge for my blog group SCS Sisters that was posted on April 16 and I am just now getting it done. The next challenge is already up-hopefully I can complete it tonight! The challenge was to create two cards with either
a) the same layout, using different colors OR
b) the same colors with different layout or layout variation. Since I was so late I decided to redo a card I had already made. I used the same layout and used different colors. This was an easy challenge because I know how to copy very well. I think I like the pink card better because I love the Raspberry Tart DSP so much and the Kiwi Kiss satin ribbon.
Well, off to make some swaps and participate in some challenges. DH is in bed and DS#2 and DD are both at the prom.

Quilted Top Note
This was such a fun card to make and a great way to use up those scraps of DSP or even retired DSP. I followed the directions on the Stampin' Addicts Forum. Click here for complete instructions. The instructions use the 1 1/4" square punch which I do not own so I used the 1 3/8" square punch. I used the liquid Tombow glue so I would not have tape stuck on my Top Note Die. The stitches were made with SU Chocolate Chip marker and it did smear some. I would reccommend using a Sharpie or a Stampin' Write Journaler . The paper is retired Cutie Pie SU DSP. The embossing is a Cuttlebug folder I ran through my Big Shot.
I have to tell my mistakes as well as my successes here-you know keeping it real as they say. If you look closely (clicked on the photo didn't you?) you will see some stray purple (Elegant Eggplant to be exact) marks on the quilted Top Note. Want to know how they got there? I had just embossed a piece of Vellum that I had inked with Elegant Eggplant and apparently it was not completely dry when I ran it through the Big Shot. So now my quilt is "distressed" with Elegant Eggplant.

Glittery Roses
I have been a blogging slacker!! I can't believe I haven't posted since Monday!!
DH was on vacation this week and we tried to get some projects done. I wanted some florescent lights in my basement over my stamping area. I thought it would be a simple project since there were already lights wired there right?! You know take down the old put up the new then off to stamp! Well. . . I own an older house and sometimes the wiring is not grounded but hey, not a big deal, the other lights were were working right? Are florescent lights supposed to smoke and spark?????? I am guessing NOT!! Time to call our electrician for some serious discussion!
The Manhattan Embossing Folder is like having an instant card maker. The card base is Perfect Plum and the flower is Pale Plum. I used the 2-Way Glue Pen to trace the embossed flower and added some Dazzling Diamonds glitter. I only did a little section of it at a time. The ribbon is White Taffeta that I dyed using a marker. The sentiment is stamped with the Oval All stamp set and punched with the new Scallop Oval punch and the Large Oval Punch.
Well DD wants the computer to play WOW (World of Warcraft) with DS#2 so off to create something if I can keep my eyes open!!!

Big Shot Happy Dance
Still feelin' the Big Shot love!!! I am always happy when something I have spent a substantial amount of money on gets used frequently. The flowers are cut with the Big Shot Die Flower Layers #2 and I sponged a little Close to Cocoa ink around the edges. The Kraft piece was run through the Big Shot with the texturz plate and then I just rubbed the Close to Cocoa ink pad over the top. The sentiment is from the SU Level 2 Hostess set A Little Somethin'. The card base is Cameo Coral.
Cameo Coral was one of my favorite colors when I first started stamping. I liked it so much that I purchased a full pack of it; before that I usually just bought the ass't packs. I think one of the biggest mistakes I made when I first started cardmaking was not to use good quality card stock. It does make a difference! I could never figure out why my cards I made at home never quite looked as good as the ones we made at stamp club (this was before I was a demonstrator). Of course, I didn't have all the tools I have now either and I was definitely a true beginner; however, using good card stock improves the look of your cards greatly .

Explosion Box
Here we go again-my photos are posted in the wrong order! At least they are turned the correct way. Blogger has a mind of its own (or I sometimes don't know what I am doing!)
This is called an Explosion Box or sometimes Scrapbook in a Box. I used a tutorial I found here at Stampin Addicts. It is actually fairly easy to make. The only hard part is scoring if you are like me and don't have a Scor-Pal yet. I used some retired DSP, Le Jardin (I think) just in case I did something wrong but it went together quickly and without any incidents (I didn't throw anything this time) . The top of the box is DSP cut with the Flower Layers #3 Sizzix die that is in the SU catalog.

SCS Sisters Challenge #1
I am finally feeling better! Thanks for all the well wishes and nice comments! Thank you amoxicillin! It is a beautiful day here in Kansas City and it looks like spring (although it could change)!
I made this card for the first challenge of the SCS SU Sisters Blog Group! (Say that 5 times fast!) The challenge was to make a monochromatic card so of course I chose pink! And nothing goes better with pink than glitter! The larger flower was stamped with versamark on Pretty in Pink paper and embossed with Iridescent Ice. The second was stamped on Whisper White paper. I don't have all the craft inks yet so I inked the stamp with versamark first and then with Pretty in Pink Classic and embossed with Iridescent Ice EP. I wanted the larger flower to be just a little darker and I couldn't stamp off because I was embossing with versamark. It is hard to tell in this photo but the piece of white is embossed with the Sizzix texturz plate. The Thank You banner I copied from someone's blog but again I can't remember whose!? If it was you leave me a comment and I will give you credit!Stamps: Petal Pizzazz
Ink: Pretty in Pink, Versamark
Paper: Pretty in Pink, Pretty in Pink DSP from Hostess Pack, Whisper White
Accessories: Ticket Corner Punch, Scallop Edge Punch, Pretty in Pink grosgrain, Texturz Plates, Iridescent Ice EP, Pink Rhinestone Brad

I am a sad cookie today and very uninspired and not creating anything. I am sick and I am sick of being sick. My head hurts, my throat is on fire and I have no energy! Finally went to the Dr. and got some (legal) drugs. So now I am feeling sorry for myself and looking at everyone else's beautiful creations so that when I feel better I can make something really fabulous!
Unfortunately I must sort a load of clothes-I am simply making piles and calling names followed by (In my loudest whisper) "COME GET YOUR CLOTHES!" I am going to settle on the couch with my cranberry limeade and watch a movie. Yes, I should go to bed but whenever I lie down all the stuff rushes to my sinuses and my head hurts and I breathe through my mouth and that makes my throat hurt more. UGH! Tomorrow is another day!
