I love Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up!® Each pack contains 2 each of 6 different double sided papers. I am a matchy-matchy girl and I love that all the papers co-ordinate with each other. However, in each pack there are always some designs that I love more than others and a couple that do not inspire me at all. This technique works great with those papers that you set aside because, well, they were challenging. This paper was from the Beyond the Garden DSP paper in the Summer Mini catalog and I just wasn't feeling the love, know what I mean? So I decided to experiment with a double embossing technique suggested in Stampin' Success, a magazine for Stampin' Up! demos.
I first brayed Versamark® on the recessed or smooth side of the Finial Press embossing folder, then I placed the DSP paper face down on the brayed side of the EF and ran it through my Big Shot®. I covered the entire paper with white embossing powder and heat embossed. I embossed the flowers also and sponged on Rose Red, Pink Pirouette and Tangerine Tango.
So get out that less than desirable paper and start embossing!
I saw these butterflies on the cover of Stampin' Success (a magazine for Stampin' Up! demos) and made a stash of them in several different colors (Daffodil Delight, Rich Razzleberry, Tempting Turquoise, and Melon Mambo). The butterfly stamp is from the Strength & Hope set. Until Aug 31 Stampin' Up! will donate $2 from the sale of each set to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. I used Stampin' Write markers to color the butterflies; be sure to use the color markers first and then the Basic Black. The lovely punched trim was made with the fun new Large Lace Ribbon Border punch. The ribbon is retired Basic Black gingham that came in one of my grab bags from Stampin' Up! I used paper from the Brights Paper Pack and added rhinestones to each butterfly!
Making masculine cards is easy peesy with this great Stampin' Up! set called The Open Sea.This is a CASE of a card by Sharon Field; click HEREto see the original.
To color the white on the ship and compass I used Whisper White craft ink and a Blender Pen or you could use an Aquapainter. The trim around the ship is Baker's Twine that I threaded through holes punched in each corner. Card stock colors are Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler and Not Quite Navy. Ink is Not Quite Navy, Whisper White craft, Early Expresso and Cherry Cobbler (hard to see but the globe is stamped on the Cherry Cobbler background.
“He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.” -Isaiah 53:3-4
